If you have the ability but not the qualifications, an extended degree is the first step to graduation. This four-year programme is identical to the three-year BA Hons Business Management degree, but includes a foundation year, and has a lower entry tariff.

The programme will develop your professional and practical skills and enable you to become an effective manager of individuals and teams. As well as leadership and business planning, you'll also study cross-cultural management.

Successful graduates can apply for associate membership of the Chartered Management Institute, and full membership after three years of management experience.

The foundation year is designed to give you:

  • A thorough introduction to business
  • Essential computing skills
  • Improved communication
  • Academic writing skills
  • An understanding of enterprise, leadership and ethics
  • The ability to manage your studies independently.

The programme will also enable you to enrich your learning through work experience. You will have the opportunity to complete a three or six-month internship as part of your studies.  You will also have the option to undertake a work placement, providing insight and practical skills which employers seek in graduates.

Outcomes

The aims of the programme are:

  • To study organisations, particularly the management of people within changing contexts
  • To enhance lifelong learning skills and personal development allowing you to contribute to society at large.
