Criminology has a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of criminality and the criminal justice system; introduction to the English legal system; the criminal process; theoretical aspects from psychological, sociological and legal perspectives; the relationship between internal and external influences on behaviour; analysis of the factors that are crucial to determining the causes of offending to enable an effective response by the criminal justice system; psychological profiling; as the course progresses there are opportunities to explore particular areas such as criminal law and evidence; police powers and sentencing; feminist issues; crime and gender; and domestic abuse; forensic science; psychological effects of victimisation; healing arts students are introduced to the psychological, sociological, physical and historical background to the use of the creative arts in healing; course aims to enhance educational development and communication skills through the exploration of personal creativity and psychological awareness.
