The course is based around the statistical package SPSS; students gain expertise in the design and analysis of clinical trials, with specific reference to the determination of sample size; taught modules use lectures (including some live data analysis), in-class discussion and computer practical sessions; personal study, facilitated by the University's web based learning environment (eLearn), forms an integral part of the course; students are taught and assessed on data analysis and reporting and critical appraisal of research papers.
