The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta is dedicated to leading the advancement of the disciplines of anesthesiology and pain management.A community-based team of more than 120 department members – composed of physicians, anesthetists, scientists, educators and allied health professionals – provide services to six Edmonton hospitals, and the people of northern and western Alberta.Our department is ranked among the leading academic departments in this field in the country. We place heavy emphasis on clinical experience, academic activities and research.

The Faculty of Education is located on the University of Alberta’s main campus (North Campus), which has faced downtown Edmonton from across the banks of the North Saskatchewan River for a century.


The U of A is minutes from the North Saskatchewan River valley, North America’s largest stretch of urban parkland. Historic Whyte Avenue, with its boutiques and coffee shops, is a short walk from campus, and downtown’s Jasper Avenue, home to high-quality restaurants and nightlife, is a few LRT stops away. Just a few more stations down the line, the Arts District boasts the Winspear Centre of Music and the Citadel Theatre.


The University of Alberta also has a French-language campus, a downtown location, a rural liberal-arts campus, and a South campus.
