The MAM curriculum is grounded in the belief that management functions must support the organization's mission and the needs of its artists and other stakeholders. Arts Managers need to be versatile. The MAM program's comprehensive curriculum provides the skills students need not only in their first job but also in a job 20 years from now. In addition to shaping leadership abilities, our curriculum teaches students how to analyze problems and think strategically. The arts industry is constantly evolving, and at Carnegie Mellon we don’t wait for the change to happen first in order to respond to it – we are proactive in becoming a part of the change and inspiring innovation today in our arts leaders of tomorrow. Our current and relevant curriculum is updated on an ongoing basis to reflect essential industry shifts, and is vetted through internal stakeholders as well as national arts leaders who provide valuable feedback on the needs of the arts field.

You can always find something new in the city of Pittsburgh. Between the 88 neighborhoods and districts and the 10 colleges with 86,000 students in the area – there’s so much to explore and so many different types of people to meet along with things to do in Pittsburgh.

Oakland, Shadyside and Squirrel Hill are the closest neighborhoods to campus and easy to explore by foot. But if you’re looking to go beyond the nearby vicinity and have mapped out a plan to see more than the obvious, your Carnegie Mellon student ID will double as your bus pass throughout Allegheny County – including the Pittsburgh International Airport.
