The course seeks to produce capable, creative, reflective and critical professionals for the construction industry, who can deal with complex issues systematically and creatively in order to make sound judgements, and reach conclusions that are clearly and concisely communicated; the courses content enables students to undertake a critical evaluation of the knowledge base and operation of the industry and to create new knowledge and practice; it achieves these aims through the development of 4 main areas; Research and learning skills, acquisition of knowledge, intellectual skills, and vocational competencies; graduates become able to consider, and critically comment on, the range of conflicting interests within a political, social, economic, technological, environmental and legal context; teaching methods are based on student interaction, where they are encouraged to develop their own approaches to problems rather than being presented with standard solutions; outside of the formal class hours, students are expected to complete reading and assignments.
