International Business is a four-year Bachelor degree study programme, which focuses on a wide range of subjects that are related to doing business internationally such as marketing, management, finances, economics, law and foreign languages.
The central theme of the International Business study programme is doing business across borders. It prepares its students for an international career, in multinationals as well as SMEs. Students acquire broad knowledge of the disciplines which deal with international business. During the final stage of their studies students specialise in one of the following disciplines: strategic marketing, strategic management, international finance or supply chain management. Specific attention is devoted to IB students mastering multiple languages, international and European law, presentation techniques, research skills, and intercultural competences.
The best students in the programme are offered a chance to participate in the so‐called IB‐ Language and Culture lines that are derived from the geographical areas that IB wants to focus on (Europe, Russia, East Asia and Latin America). Intercultural and language skills have to become the student’s unique selling point for a better position on the labour market among other students of International Business, Economics, Marketing etc.
The programme is thematic. This means that all modules are focused on themes that are closely linked to real-life business practices. You will work on projects that are based on realistic business processes. Openness, innovation and practical orientation play a prominent role within the study programme. IB offers a global platform to the ambition of its students, alumni, employees, partners and other stakeholders.
In the 3rd year you can follow a pre-master programme that prepares you for a university master degree at Maastricht University.
As for career opportunities, the graduates are able to apply their knowledge in the positions like:
International Account Manager
Financial Manager / Analyst
Customer Relationship Manager
PR Officer / Trade Consultant
Supply Chain Manager
