The sports studies course is ideal for those interested in important social aspects of sport – history, sociology and politics; in addition to the core modules, students can select additional modules from the range of sports degrees; students also have the opportunity to take part in practical activities that relate to academic study eg. games performance and fitness; the deaf studies course equips students to analyse a wide range of issues associated with deafness and the D/deaf community; it allows students to study British Sign Language (BSL) alongside cultural, historical and social issues relating to deafness; students improve their English and BSL communication skills, in class, self study tasks, assignments and debates; students also get the chance to investigate legislation, sign linguistics and language development.
