This dual course combines the essentials of an architecture course with a structural engineering course, principally aimed at buildings and structures; each year includes a mix of architectural and engineering subjects; and finally a period of further learning, such as an approved MSc course or a programme of structured learning devised by an employer; it is jointly accredited by the Royal Institute of British Architects, the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers, so students can choose whether to become an architect, an engineer, or both; there is an industrial partnership scheme providing structured vacation employment places for a number of students each year and partner companies also contribute to teaching through lectures, design classes, projects and site visits, and are involved in curriculum development.
