This course covers genetics (the study of heredity and variation in all organisms) and microbiology (the study of microbes (bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and viruses); microbes have been extensively used for working out the molecular details of heredity, conversely the understanding of the genetics of microbes is key to controlling diseases that they can cause; students study genetics and microbiology in an integrated way to a high level, alongside gaining a broad grounding in the other molecular biosciences.
