In the Music department a personal tutor works with the student over three years to help them make the most of their studies and encourage students to excel; lectures, seminars and group tutorials are reinforced by individual supervision or feedback; the Music part of the degree is assessed through projects, performances and coursework, giving students a chance to develop their skills and interests in an independent and creative manner; the performance module at level 1 is assessed by a short recital; the level 3 instrumental or vocal recital is given in public; while following a recital track students are given tuition on their principal instrument; students take 1 3rd of their degree at the National Centre for English Cultural Tradition, with an extensive range of modules in level 1 allows students to define their own modular programme through levels 2 and 3; students may wish to specialise at level 3 in composition, dissertation or performance.
