Acquiring a high standard of oral and written fluency is central to all levels of the course; at level 1 the programme introduces students to French society and culture from the medieval period to the present day, including film studies, and to modern French history and institutions; further specialist options in these areas are taught at level 2; at level 3 students spend the whole year in France, usually either as a language assistant in a school or studying at university; places are also available at the University of London Institute in Paris in association with the renowned Institut d'Etudes Politiques, Music: A personal tutor works with the student over three years to help them make the most of their studies; lectures, seminars and group tutorials are reinforced by individual supervision or feedback; the course is assessed through projects, performances and coursework, giving students a chance to develop their own skills and interests in an independent and creative manner.
