In the 1st year students study the core subjects that underpin sport and exercise: exercise physiology; anatomy; biomechanics; psychology; motor control and learning; the sport environment; and sports management; in the 2nd year, students can follow a study route either sport and exercise science (SES) or sport and exercise studies (Sp. Studies); students also have the opportunity to take specialist pathways in strength and conditioning, sports psychology, sports coaching, sports therapy, exercise and health and sports management in the 2nd and 3rd years; mathematics offers the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of concepts in mathematics, statistics and operational research within a course that explores the use of maths within the modern world of business; students develop analytical problem solving skills, communication skills and information technology skills.
