This course adopts an interdisciplinary approach which is essential if the impact of environmental hazards is to be reduced; the course produces graduates able to understand the causes of environmental hazards, their socio-economic contexts and the ways in which society can monitor and respond to their threat; full integration of the different aspects is achieved via residential field courses to locations such as Greece and Mount Etna, Sicily; teaching staff are all active in hazards research.
