Graduates from the course will be able to move into port management worldwide as the programme covers the detail of container and bulk port operations at a postgraduate level as well as the personnel issues ensuing from the management of port labour; ports are part of the international logistics industry and thus 2 modules concentrate on the role of international trade and the logistics sector; port customers, the shipping companies are increasing rebranding to become "Globalised Logistics" operations and expect companies with which they work to understand this aspect of their operation; this course emphasises this important aspect thus students graduating from the MSc Port Management will have a rounded view of the management of ports and port terminals as well as the wider logistics industry; on an optional basis students are able to study risk and safety management as well as the wider aspects of shipping; this allows students to experience aspects of the industry not available in many programmes of this type.
