Learning history isn’t about memorizing facts, it’s about conducting research, interpreting sources, making compelling arguments, and constructing intriguing narratives. These skills equip students of history for successful careers and enable them to participate in public life as informed, thoughtful, and articulate world citizens. Majors in History take a class in historical research and writing and five advanced courses exploring specific regions, periods, and themes. Students complete their degree with an intense one-semester seminar in which they produce a work of original research.
