Why choose this course?

  • Through the adaptive re-use, re-branding, re-modelling, re-cycling and re-communication of existing spaces, structures and environments this course will offer you the skills, knowledge and work experience you need to become a leader;
  • Working with real clients on real design projects during your studying process;
  • Studio-based and professionally-focussed learning environment;
  • Optional Year 2, 10 week work placement is offered;
  • Visits to galleries, museums, shows;
  • Dedicated design studio, computer suite and state of the art digital manufacturing suites.

Work placement

All students are given an option to undertake a work placement for the last term of their second year of study. The student produces a weekly Log Sheet submitted on a Blog they have created for their placement, documenting their experience. This enables them to share their experience with fellow students. Additionally students submit a report relating to their experience, focussing on a case study and reflection of their experience, handed-in at the end of their placement period. It is this report, and their log sheets, that form the assessment of the placement.

Career prospects

On graduating from the course students find that their studies have prepared them to take-on the challenge of an increasingly diverse creative sector: design companies such as Terry Farrell and Partners, Conran Design and Black Sheep have offered opportunities and internships; international brands, such as Wedgwood, and high-profile, international, communications agencies such as Exposure are working with AUB students.
