The course prepares students for the role of information communication technology (ICT) teacher and co-ordinator in the context of the secondary school curriculum; the programme is informed by national strategies and initiatives in key stage 3 as well as in the 14-19 agenda; it addresses the key stage 3 strategy framework, explores various key stage 4 examination courses and addresses the curriculum for post-16 courses through lectures, seminars, workshops and practical teaching opportunities; the programme works closely with partnership schools and the local community; this is reflected in the richness of the subject-method sessions which are led by university tutors, heads of ICT, local authority advisors and speakers from a range of educational organisations; leads to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), subject to satisfactory performance in skills tests.
