University of Reading scholarships for international students for the academic year 2013-2014

University of Reading, which belongs to the top one per cent of the best universities in the world, has a range of unique scholarships specifically designed for international students.

Scholarships for undergraduate students

The IB (International Baccalaureate) scholarship is one of a kind, which no other university offers. The scholarship offers comprehensive funding which covers full tuition fees plus £5000 to contribute towards living costs! There are two scholarships available for the students with the best IB results as nominated by their schools. All new international are eligible for this generous scholarship, holding a place for an undergraduate course at any subject at the University of Reading. This is truly one-of-a-kind scholarship which we would like to attract your attention to.

Other scholarships for new undergraduates include a hardship fund aimed at helping less well off international students renew their visa and fund their studies at Reading University. A maximum of £3500 will be donated by the university to a lucky student holding a place for any undergraduate degree at University of Reading after a means test.

A sports scholarship is also available for students holding a place and competing at the regional or higher level in their sport. Up to £4000 will be awarded.

Finally, there is the Ede and Ravenscroft prize for international students already at the university, a prize of £200 pounds for the best performing student of each faculty.

Scholarships for postgraduate students

There is a range of scholarships available at the Henley Business School for postgraduate students. Henley Business School is the first business school to be established in the UK and one of 57 business schools worldwide to hold triple accredited status. Scholarships of £5000 towards the tuition fees will be awarded to the best international students who accept a place for a master’s programme in any of: accounting, international business, human resource management, entrepreneurship, marketing and international management. Students who have a record of excellence or contributions to business or to society will be eligible.

The Reading Law School has three scholarship schemes available for all international students:

  • School of Law International Scholarship will contribute £5000 towards tuition fees.
  • School of Law Postgraduate Scholarships will contribute £1000 towards tuition fees for a full time postgraduate course.
  • School of Law Master of Research Scholarships will contribute £2250 towards fees. Students reading MRes (Law), MRes (Law & Society) or MA (Res) Legal History from October 2013 are eligible. In general the research scholarship requires students to be either citizens or permanent residents of the UK or other EU country.

All students holding an excellent degree (1st or 2.1 equivalent) from undergraduate study (first higher education degree) will be considered for the three schemes. However, applicants for the Master of Research Scholarships must additionally have very strong skills in research and writing; an area of research interest that fits with at least one of the School's areas of expertise; and an interest in pursuing doctoral study or research-oriented career.

Scholarships paying up to £24000 have been previously awarded by the EU to students pursuing Law postgraduate courses. Full details of this particular opportunity should be announced in April.
