About us

About the project

Education Index provides comprehensive, impartial, structured information about higher education in the UK for Russian students. The aim of the project is to give talented Russian students greater access to education abroad.

We present students with a complete database of higher-education courses on offer at institutions in the UK. Complementing the database is an online library that includes articles on various topics, as well as statistics and other useful information, and an offline consultation service to answer the individual questions that prospective applicants might have.

Our principles

  1. Comprehensiveness and impartiality of information: Our database lists all higher-education courses at all institutions in the UK, and includes over 70,000 courses and 700 institutions;
  2. Dependability: We work exclusively with bona fide sources in the UK and Russia; all the material and statistics we present are used by permission of the licensing-agreement and copyright holders;
  3. Usefulness of information: Education Index exists for students. All material is developed and published taking Russian students’ opinions into account, both those currently studying at UK institutions and graduates.

The beginning

The Education Index project began at the end of 2009, and took UK higher-education institutions as its starting point. It is currently under development for a number of other countries. The Russian-language library sections are expanded on a weekly basis.

Many gifted Russian students do not consider the option of applying to top institutions abroad as they believe education overseas to be much less accessible than it really is. We hope that this resource will do something to dispel this myth.

We would be very grateful for your comments on what you liked about the site and what you think could be improved.

The majority of international students need time to adapt to the way of life in another country, and need help with this issue. Alongside the specialised services that exist in British universities, assistance at this level should be available up until the student leaves the UK.
